allow me to introduce myself

I’m Almira Ara, a sound alchemist from Columbus, Ohio, currently based in Brooklyn, NY. I use sound waves to create portals for people to process, heal, express, and feel.

My influences range from Willow to Tracy Chapman, Jimi Hendrix to Kehlani, so you can expect me to treat genre as my playground. Sound of Boston has described my work as “pushing the bondaries of genre, emotional exploration, and [my] own vulnerability, while creating community in the process,” and you can see this at play in my current discography. Through a variety of lyrical content and musical styles, I’m proving to be a Frankenstein of genres, spreading the message of radical emotion like it’s my gospel.

As of now, when I’m not writing, producing, performing, or recording, you can find me in Brooklyn at a cafe with face buried in a book (either reading or journaling), chilling at home with my cat, Mojo, learning how to DJ, playing bass for the homies, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, or making little collages.

This year, my goal is to release 10 songs before I turn 25 in 2027 (currently 1 down). You can expect the music that comes from this goal to be a cornucopia of different sounds and contemplations.
